INCOSE IW 2026 OpenMBEE Session
The OpenMBEE Workshop tradition continues as part of INCOSE IW in 2026!
This year’s workshop will bring together members of the OpenMBEE community with presentations on SysML v2, AI, Continuouse Ingegration, OpenMBEE developments, industry adoption, and much more.
As in recent years, the 2026 workshop is a joint collaboration between OpenMBEE/NumFOCUS and the INCOSE Digital Ecosystems (DECO) Challenge Team (which is part of the INCOSE MBSE Initiative).
Session: Enabling Continuous Integration in Systems Engineering with OpenMBEE and SysML v2
Purpose
This session will show how OpenMBEE, combined with SysML v2, provides an open and model-centric platform to enable continuous integration across engineering disciplines, tools, and lifecycle activities. It extends the original MBSE vision by emphasizing continuous model integration, automation, and incremental delivery of validated engineering artifacts.
Context
Continuous Integration in systems engineering goes beyond software. It means continuously integrating:
System elements and interfaces
Discipline-specific analyses
Lifecycle stages and verification evidence
Digital engineering tools and repositories
MBSE established the system model as the integrative backbone. SysML v2 now provides the formal language and API-first infrastructure to make this executable. OpenMBEE provides the open-source platform to connect tools, manage models, and support continuous integration of the technical baseline.
Session Focus
Present the OpenMBEE architecture as an integration bus for models, data, and workflows
Show how SysML v2 enables formal, automatable representations of system structure, behavior, and requirements
Demonstrate real-world integrations (requirements, simulation, digital twins, software, V&V pipelines)
Discuss how this supports CI/CD practices within systems engineering
Work with the audience to create a draft roadmap—building on the original MBSE roadmap—toward a CI-enabled future state
Intended Outcomes
A clear definition of Continuous Integration for systems engineering
Shared understanding of the role of SysML v2 and OpenMBEE as key enablers
A community roadmap identifying required methods, tooling, practices, and governance
Format
Morning: SysML v2 introduction followed by OpenMBEE architecture overview
Afternoon: Live demonstrations of integrations supporting continuous integration
Breakout groups to develop the initial Continuous Integration roadmap
Why This Matters Now
The shift from static models to continuously integrated engineering pipelines is underway. SysML v2 and OpenMBEE provide the practical foundation needed to make this real across industries.
